Tip

This should be a relatively simple report to update - simply point it to your application source question(s).

HOT TIP: you can also use this template to generate pie charts for other measures, like gender split, or candidate names like Dave and Sue.

Basic Construction

It’s, like, so basic it’s embarrassing.

By default:

  • Application Source is a calculated field pointing to the Application Source - Type field.

  • Application Source - Other is a calculated field pointing to the Application Source - Candidate Portal Audience field.

  • Submitted Applications is the Application Count - Submitted field with a sum total applied

  • % of Submitted Applications is the Application Count - Submitted field with an Advanced Function of Percentage of Total applied.

Default Chart Configuration

Total Applications (Default)

Alternative Chart Options

Submitted Applicaitions are segmented by the Appication Source field.

Because pie charts don’t show the total, a numeric chart is used to show this on the chart canvas.

Fixed height bar chart

Number of applications per source are represented by the label and depth of colour.

An upper bound of 0.01 is placed on the hidden vertical axis. You will find this in the axis settings.

Treemap
Number of applications per source are represented by the size and depth of colour.

Customisation

You will find the fields use in the report in the Calculated Fields folder.

Updating the Source Fields

  1. You will find the fields use in the report in the Calculated Fields folder.

2. Select a metric > Edit Calculation

3. Clear the calculation.

4. Search for and choose your source field.

5. Save your changes.

Note

If you have more a complicated way of capturing candidate source, like multiple questions for different source types, you may need to create a calculated field to combine them. See Calculated Fields for more details.

Creating Other Pie Charts

Want to create a different pie chart? Use this template for that too!

  1. Add your field.

Modify your report by removing the source columns and adding relevant fields from your custom GQ folders (eg Gender) or otherwise.

2. Update your chart(s).

Your charts will now be missing the setting where the source had been. On each required chart, drag your new field to the blank box where applicant source had been.

Done!
