Group questions are used to collect multiple candidate responses within a table or matrix. An example may be a question that asks which software applications the candidate is familiar with and then asks them to rate their proficiency.

Here is an example of a Group Question.

To create a Group Question

  1. In the Question Options tab, select the Group Question type from this drop-down list

  2. After completing the Question Details section, click the Question Options tab.

  3. Add a Group Question heading as below:

This will appear above the first column on the Group Question.

  4. Click the Save button at the bottom right hand corner.

  5. Once you have saved the question, a new tab called Answer Options will appear at the top of the screen.

  6. Click the Answer Option Tab to enter the different sections of the Group question.  Now you are able to add the answer options.

  7. Click the Add New Child Question link to add your child questions first. These are the options that the candidate will select from.

For example, in the case of the IT literacy question, the first child question will list the level and year last used options that the candidate can select from.

  8. On the Manage Child Question page, enter the Question Reference and Question Text before selecting Free Text as the Question Type.

  9. Click the Save button at the bottom right hand corner.

  10. Click on the Global Question link at the top of the page to go back to the Group Question.

  11. Repeat this process – adding child questions and answer options – until you have all of the child questions and answers you require. In this example, the other child question is contact number, email address and relationship.

  12. The Answer Options tab will now look like this:

Once you have completed this process, you are now ready to add your parent answers.  The parent answers will represent the different rows in the group question, in this case each Referee.

  13. Click the + Add New Answer link at the top right of the screen.

  14. Enter the parent answer(s) in the same manner as adding multiple choice answers.

  15. Once you have added all parent answer options, click the Save button at the bottom right hand corner.

  16. Once this Group Question has been added to the application form, it will appear to the candidate like:

  • No labels
